Coming in from

Seven gates open onto this campus and they are a long way apart. Pick the one you will actually arrive at and the walk draws itself.

Main Gate

marker 175 · grid G3

The gate every auto and cab driver knows, off C. V. Raman Road at Prof. C. N. R. Rao Circle. Walk straight in, keep going north past the main building road, and the ground is on your left once you reach the bank.

The Institute's map as a PDF

That is the Institute's own map, unaltered underneath. The pandal, the gates and the walks are drawn over it by the committee, and every distance is measured off the traced path using the map's own scale bar, which is why they are not round numbers.

The Institute's own map is the one to carry. It names every building and marks all the gates, and the Tata Memorial Club is at F3 126 on the IISc campus map. A copy is hosted here so it works without signal, and the original is on iisc.ac.in.

On the day

  • Anjali and bhog timings are on the five-days page.
  • Bring a water bottle. The queue on Ashtami is long and the afternoon is warm.
  • Everything is at ground level and the ground is flat, so the pandal is reachable with a wheelchair or a pram.
  • Lost, late, or stuck at a gate? Ring a convenor below.

The Puja is open to everyone and always has been. If you are at NCBS, JNCASR, ICTS, RRI or anywhere else in Bengaluru, or you are a Bengali association wanting to bring a group, this reaches a convenor directly.

Things worth telling us in advance

  • Bringing a group. Bhog is cooked to a count. A rough number a week ahead means nobody is turned away on Ashtami.
  • Performing. The cultural evenings fill up by late September. Tell us what you do and how long it runs.
  • Driving in. Vehicle passes for the campus take a day or two to arrange, and cannot be arranged at the gate.
  • A stall. Books, food, handloom, anything a Puja ground should have. There is space and there is no charge for a non-commercial one.
  • Accessibility. Tell us what you need and we will arrange it rather than improvise it.

One of an email address or a phone number is enough, and we need one of them to answer you. Nothing here is published, sold or passed on.

There is a great deal of history on these pages and some of it will be wrong. If you know better, we would rather hear it than keep it. The same goes for anything broken, anything missing, and any photograph that should not be here.
